Wood
U-Colour Series features solid Spruce for the soundboard for a clear, punchy tone, while Mahogany laminate is used for the back and side for more bass.
Spruce wood is straight grained, yellowish white in color, light weight and strong in structure. Spruce takes some time to open up, but when it does, a crispy clear sounds over a wide tonal spectrum is what you would come to expect from this popular tone wood. It is excellent for both strumming and finger-style playing.
Mahogany is quarter-sawn, straight grained. Property is light weight yet dense, it delivers a fast tonal transfer, a bright and organic tone and the bass is on the warm side.
aNueNue uses naturally air-dried solid wood tops and are seasoned for years. Seasoned tops are stable, but does take time to open up and deliver a more beautiful transcendent overall tone. A solid top in comparison will possess a more complex timbre than a laminated top.
Details
The top is finished in a Pantone color paint, while the back and sides is finished in a matte open-pore finish. The scratch guard is a scratch-free material made in the EU. The design of pickguard is borrowed from the Bird Series, a design feature, it also serves to protect the ukulele paint from fingernail scratches while strumming.
The maple binding serve to protect the edges of the wood from knocks and dinks.
The fingerboard uses maple, the sound is crisp and bright, grainy, and the texture is hard and light, which can effectively transmit sound and vibration. The 19-fret design, allows for endless tonal possibilities.
Bridge / Saddle
The smiley-shaped rosewood bridge provides support to the string tension. Synthetic bone nut is used for the saddle which is very hard and articulate. This helps the strings to vibrate and to have a deep resonance.
