Pono Ebony Deluxe Series

In Hawaiian, the word "Pono" is defined as goodness and excellence. This is reflected in the craftsmanship of Pono ukuleles that are known for their classic warm tone, the use of the finest-grade wood and high quality construction with strict quality control–all at an affordable price.

The Pono Ebony Deluxe Series is one series that examplifies such qualities. It is also a shame that Pono is planing to stop production of this series once current stock is sold due to cost and limited availability of Macassar Ebony. These models may be re-introduced in 2010.

The difference between Ebony wood from Africa, in particular Madagascar, and Macassar Ebony is that Ebony wood is all black and is traditionally used on fingerboards and bridges. Macassar Ebony is a much more valuable, more expensive Asian Ebony species that is still black, but streaked with beautiful brown colours, and is the most stable of all Ebony woods. Macassar Ebony is used on the back and side of high-end guitars. All tenor models of this series come with an adjustable truss rod built into the neck.

We're very sorry but this particular model the PTES-500 has been sold. We have plans to order more if Pono has stock. Please contact us if you wish to place an order for this model.
